How to Make an Intro Video for Your Company
Making intro videos can be really fun and easy. But…people can get intimidated when the camera is on. They freeze up and don’t know what to say. Some don’t even like the sound of their own voice on camera.
The best way to stop all of that is to make the video about the company or a highlight of the company, and not necessarily about the person talking. And, it only has to be a minute long.
How to Make the Video: Logistics First
At Miranda Park Learning we use Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing. We’re big fans of the Adobe Suite so we tend to use it often. However, there are other video editors out there. Find the one that best fits your budget and need.
We also have a Nikon Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera that we sometimes use. We say sometimes because we take certain shots with a phone as well.
We provide a script or talking points. It helps the “star” to have something to follow, even if they don’t memorize it exactly.
What to Put in the Video
In our experience, it’s more engaging when you let people see what you do with a story, instead of a person talking about the story to the camera. That’s wordy, but does it make sense? Show the story, don’t have someone describe the story.
Show the Truth in Your Company’s Intro Video
Our example this week is a 57-second video for a company called Unbridled Hope and Healing. They’re a hippotherapy company, dedicated to the rehabilitation of both, horse and human. In this video, notice the intro was quickly made by a human, and then the horse was the main story.
Two other bits to notice:
- We show the setting. You’ll notice see the wind was blowing because this is where their pasture is. We didn’t modify the wind noise too much because that’s the truth of the story. These horses are out in the open air and they love it!
- We show some before and after shots. The company was able to provide old shots of the horse. Then, we filmed the present. If you’re able, show the full story. This horse was struggling two years ago, but thanks to Unbridled Hope and Healing, the horse is doing visibly better.
